Animal Feces

Hello Everyone,

It has come to the attention of the HOA Board that some individuals have not been picking up their pets feces when walking them. Not only is this rude, it\’s a violation of St. Joseph County Ordinance. Ordinance 90.12 section A. The ordinance states:

\”Within any residential area, any owner or his or her agent taking the owner\’s animal(s) outside of owner\’s real property limits must immediately remove any excrement deposited by the animal(s) on any such public or private property, except in the case of a guide dog for a blind person or service dog for deaf or physically disabled person or any animal utilized for law enforcement purposes.\”

A first violation fine is minimum $25 not to exceed $2500. A second violation fine is minimum $50 not exceed $7500 for any violation of Chapter 90 \”Animal Care Rules and Regulations\” in the County Code.

It really should never get to this point if everyone would just pick up after their pets. However, if you notice an individual that consistently and blatantly refuses to pick up after their pet, you can call the Humane Society and make a report.
